James is our Chief Executive Officer and has over 25 years of experience in Asset Management. Prior to joining Flag in 2024, James was Managing Director and Head of Business for Kapsteam Capital, working with them for 10 years in various roles. Prior to this James worked for T. Rowe Price and Challenger in Australia and Newton Investment Management in the UK. James’ roles spanned both the management of the broader entity as well as the development of key relationships with both institutional and wholesale clients and their asset consultants. James has a strong understanding of superannuation trends and wide experience in listed and unlisted asset classes, in particular a focus on fixed interest in the more recent years.

Michael is the Chief Investment Officer of Flag Asset Management. Michael brings over 30 years of financial markets experience. Prior to joining Flag, Michael was with Deutsche Bank for 22 years where he was the Head of Global Markets APAC (where he had direct oversight of the Credit, Equities, FX and Rates business reporting directly to the Board Member for Global Markets and to the Board Member responsible for APAC), Co-Head of the Corporate Institutional Bank APAC and CEO of Deutsche Bank Australia. Over his tenor at Deutsche Bank Michael had a number of global responsibilities including Chair of Global Fixed Income and Currencies Division, member of the Global Executive Committee for Global Markets and the Corporate Institutional Bank, and Member of the Executive Committee for Global Credit Trading and Global Equities.

Kevin is Head of Investment Solutions and brings over 30 years of financial markets experience. Prior to joining Flag, Kevin spent 22 years at Deutsche Bank. His most recent role at Deutsche Bank was Head of Global Markets (where he had direct management and oversight of the Credit, Equities, FX and Rates businesses) and Head of Credit Trading (GCT) for Australia. Kevin played an instrumental role in establishing and developing Deutsche Bank’s Australian Global Markets and Global Credit Trading businesses into the market leading credit trading business in Australia. He was a member of the GCT Global Executive Committee, APAC Global Markets Executive Committee, APAC Regional Risk Committee and locally served on the Bank’s Group Executive Committee, the Global Markets/Corporate Finance Australia Executive Council and the Group Risk Committee.

Maddison is our Chief Operating Officer and has over 25 years of experience in the Financial Markets in both Australia and the UK. Prior to joining Flag, Maddison spent 24 years at Deutsche Bank. His most recent role at Deutsche Bank was Chief Operating Officer of FIC where he was responsible for managing Rates, Foreign Exchange, Listed derivatives, as well as the more structured activities of Global Credit Trading & Platforms, Global Credit Financing, Cross Asset Trading and Structuring. During his tenure Maddison was a key member in establishing trading businesses and launching structured credit SPV investment operations. Maddison’s responsibilities in Financial Markets included Strategy, Operations, IT, HR, Finance, Legal and Compliance, and New Product Development. He was a member of the ANZ Operating Committee, ANZ Risk Council, ANZ IT Steering Council and Chair of the Listed Derivatives Governance Council.

Joy is the Chair of Flag Asset Management Pty Ltd and has over 30 years’ experience in Financial Markets and Asset Management. Prior to joining Flag, Joy held senior positions with NAB Asset Management and prior to that with AllianceBernstein in various roles for the Asia Pacific region – based at various times in both Australia and Asia. Joy’s roles in Asset Management have spanned managing portfolios, sales and marketing, responsibility for legal and compliance, finance, IT, HR and investment operations as well as country CEO and regional COO.

Michael is the Chairman of our Note Issuing Company, providing an independent oversight to the issuing programme. He is a company director with over thirty years of board experience encompassing listed and unlisted organisations – both for profit and not-for-profit – across the aged care, superannuation, asset management, wealth management and consulting industries. Michael is currently a director of Alpha Vista Financial Services and Australian Ethical Investment Limited. Michael was formerly Managing Director of State Plus, was a partner of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu and held senior executive positions with Deutsche Bank, Intech Investment Consulting, IBM (ISSC Australia) and Lend Lease Corporation.

Ben is our Senior Portfolio Manager with primary responsibility for investment decisions within our credit portfolios. Ben has worked in credit markets for the last 20 years in a number of roles in Australia and the UK. Before joining Flag, Ben spent 3 years at Citigroup where he led the Australian credit trading business in Sydney. Prior to this he spent 5 years at CQS (UK) LLP, a London based hedge fund, trading European fixed income and credit derivatives and 3 years at UBS, also within the European credit trading business. Ben is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and worked at KPMG in Assurance and Advisory specialising in financial services clients.

Jak is our Investment Solutions Manager and brings experience from working across structured finance and consulting in Sydney and Shanghai. Prior to joining Flag, Jak spent 2 years with Greensill Capital (Australia) in an origination role and prior to that worked as a consultant with Advention Business Partners in Shanghai. Jak holds an MSc in Accounting and Finance (with Distinction) from the London School of Economics and a Bachelor of Commerce (with Distinction) from the University of New South Wales. He has completed all Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) exams.

Mandy is a Business Manager supporting the finance, compliance and operational areas of Flag. She has over eight years of experience in the financial services industry, with expertise in accounting, compliance, tax and audit. Mandy was previously employed at Fundhost and KPMG where her roles involved oversight of fund accounting, distributions, unit registry and financial reporting. Mandy holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Arts from the University of Sydney and is a member of the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand. Mandy is currently on maternity leave.

Ben is our Investment Operations Manager and brings 17 years of financial markets experience in Sydney and Paris. Prior to joining Flag, Ben spent 5 years at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in the Fixed Income Currencies and Commodities division with a strong focus on rates trading. Prior to this he spent 2 years at Tech Data Corporation helping to establish their European Treasury Business. Ben has also held various roles in controls and operations at UBS and BNP Paribas in Australia.

Tom is an Associate Portfolio Manager within our Investment Team, responsible for execution of transactions across portfolios, providing investment, risk and portfolio analysis to both the investment and business and product development teams. Tom has been with Flag since 2016 in various roles, starting as an intern. Over the period, he has gained insight into all parts of our investment process, including credit analysis, operational processes and data analysis. Tom holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Liberal Studies) (Honours Class 1) from the University of Sydney.

Chakra is a Database Specialist supporting the development and maintenance of our enterprise data management systems. Prior to joining Flag, Chakra was a Business Intelligence Developer at Greencross Pty Limited and held various roles at Version Data Services India Private Ltd for 7 years prior to this. Chakra holds a master’s degree in Computer Applications and has completed various industry certificates and training.

Shivani is our Compliance Manager responsible for delivering the compliance and risk framework to support our business and strategic initiatives. With over 25 years of comprehensive experience in the financial services industry across diverse sectors including asset management, superannuation, banking, and real estate, Shivani brings strong investment, regulatory compliance and risk expertise. Shivani holds a Master of Business Law from the University of Sydney. Most recently Shivani led and managed the compliance and risk functions at Mirvac Group as Head of Compliance and as Executive Manager of Business Controls and Monitoring at BT Financial Group. Prior to that, positions held include Associate Director at UBS Asset Management, several Risk and Compliance Manager roles at Colonial First State Investments Limited and CFS Global Asset Management, as well as Assistant Vice President at JPMorgan Chase Bank.

Yuriy is a Senior Credit Analyst responsible for the credit investment analysis of Flag portfolios through the analysis, recommendation, and monitoring of primary and secondary investments. He also leads research, execution, and management of new principal investments. Prior to joining Flag, Yuriy spent four years with Moody’s Investors Service as a lead analyst covering high yield corporates across a range of sectors. Yuriy holds a Master’s Degree in Accounting & Finance from the University of Western Australia.

Jane is a legal, compliance and regulatory risk specialist. She is a qualified lawyer and has more than 25 years’ experience in financial services, having worked as special counsel at Commonwealth Bank, Institutional Bank & Markets Division, and as an Executive Director at Deutsche Bank, at the Australian Securities Exchange, as a consultant for a number of financial institutions, including investment management firms, and at two leading law firms. Jane was previously chairperson of the Chi-X Australia Review Committee.

Roderick is a Credit Analyst supporting our investment team. Prior to joining Flag, Roderick was at Moody’s Investors Service as an Associate Analyst in the Sub-Sovereign and Infrastructure & Project Finance sectors and a Fixed Income Analyst at HSBC Private Bank in Hong Kong. Roderick holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Laws from the University of New South Wales, and is also a CFA charterholder.

Quentin is our Chief Administrative Officer responsible for the financial control and reporting framework of the Flag Group as well as providing support to the CEO. He has over 16 years of experience in the financial services industry in Australia and Hong Kong including accounting for special purpose entities and derivatives. He has also gained experience in financial vendor selection, fund accounting oversight and significant project work within the restructure of an asset management firm. Prior to joining Flag, Quentin has held positions at First Sentier Investors, Deutsche Bank and Morgan Stanley. Quentin is a member of Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand.

Tim is our Investment Operations Analyst, supporting and further developing Flag’s operational capabilities. Prior to joining Flag, Tim was part of S&P Global’s regulatory reporting team, primarily involved in supporting Australian Tier 1 banks post-trade reporting obligations across multiple jurisdictions. Before that, Tim was based in London, where he worked at both the Kuwait Investment Office in the Operations Department (Trade Management and Asset Servicing) and at ICE in the Fixed Income valuation team. Tim has completed an Investment Management Diploma and Series 7 qualifications.

Ben is the Quantitative Risk Consultant to Flag and the CEO of Maroon Analytics Australia (a Quantitative Analytics Consultancy to the finance industry). Ben has been assisting us in establishing and maintaining a proprietary system for modelling our credit and market risk. Ben has over 20 years’ experience working for Investment Banks as a Quantitative Analyst. Up to 2012 he was the Australia/Pacific regional head of the Quantitative function for RBS, and before that was the local head of Quantitative Analytics at ABN AMRO Australia.
